The firm engages in a general legal practice, but concentrates in areas of complex business litigation, representation of financial institutions, appellate law, real estate related matters, alternative dispute resolution, personal injury, medical malpractice, homeowner associations, employment issues, and commercial practice.
The firm's litigation docket includes cases in both state and federal court and encompasses a wide variety of subject matters. A team of skilled attorneys, who are highly motivated.
The real estate section involves itself primarily in representation
of parties to real property purchase, sale, development, and financing
transactions, loan and purchase and sale document preparation, and
enforcement and collect matters (such as foreclosures) and representation
of title insurance agencies and underwriters. The general commercial
practice of the firm includes general business counseling, all forms
of business and partnership formation, and representation relating
to corporate matters. The community association division focuses on
all aspects of community and land use development and representation
of subdivision, townhome and condominium owners' associations. The
alternate dispute resolution section is devoted primarily to conducting
mediations, with a mediator generally being available within 72 hours
of request.
Williams, Birnberg & Andersen, L.L.P. enjoys an "AV"
rating from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Three of the lawyers
are board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Gerald
M. Birnberg is board certified in Civil Appellate Law, and Thomas
B. Andersen is board certified in Commercial Real Estate law. Additionally,
a partner in the firm, Mitchell Katine, served as a Commissioner on
the Texas Real Estate Commission from 1994 until 1999. Fred Hofheinz,
former mayor of the City of Houston from 1974-1978, is Of Counsel
to the firm. The firm stresses exceptional academic credentials from
its attorneys, most of whom were members of the law review or other
academic order during their law school careers.
