JON ELIOT KING Jon has been practicing law for over
thirty years. He has successfully mediated the majority of a broad
range of well over 1500 cases in the greater Houston area ranging
from complex commercial litigation to personal injury, products liability,
medical malpractice, professional liability, premises liability, employment
law, intellectual property, real estate, homeowner association, securities,
environmental law, oil & gas, maritime, construction, family law,
trusts & estates, antitrust, and banking. In June of 1995 he was
named the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center’s ("DRC")
Outstanding Mediator in the Litigation Mediation Program. In addition,
Jon was awarded Houston Bar Foundation's Volunteer of the Year Award
in December 1995 for his work in the DRC’s Litigation Mediation
Program. He has contributed his services to the Houston community
by mediating over 400 pro bono cases for the DRC and has been appointed
as a mediator by the following county & district court judges:
Jane Bland, Gary Michael Block, Harvey Brown, Jeff Brown, Jack Cagle,
Tracy Christopher, John Coselli, Grant Dorfman, Jennifer Elrod, Brent
Gamble, Joseph Halbach, George Hanks, Lynn Bradshaw-Hull, Toni Lindsay,
Roberta Lloyd, Sharon McCally, Lisa Millard, Sherry Radack, Elizabeth
Ray, Reece Rondon, Jim Scanlon, Randy Wilson, Sharolyn Wood, John
Wooldridge. Jon is a certified mediator having received his certification
and advanced training from the A. A. White Dispute Resolution Institute
as well as family mediation training from the DRC. He has been a faculty
member for A. A. White's advanced course and is a frequent lecturer
on mediation and ADR. With regards to arbitration, his commercial
arbitration practice began in 1973 with three years of experience
with over 100 cases with the New York law firm of Otterbourg, Steindler,
Houston & Rosen, P.C. where he assisted in presenting and resolving
numerous commercial arbitration cases in the commercial textile arena.
He is currently serving on the American Arbitration Association's
Panel of Arbitrators. Jon is listed as an ADR provider with the United
States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and is a
member of the American, Texas, & Houston Bar Associations, the
Texas Association of Mediators, and the College of the State Bar of

By way of further background, Jon received his bachelor's degree
from West Point and served five years on active duty, including a
tour in Vietnam, as an officer in the United States Army. Jon is a
past president of the West Point Society of Greater Houston. Jon's
legal education is from the National Law Center, George Washington
University where he served as an editor of the Journal of International
Law and Economics before graduating, cum laude in 1973. One legal
study, "A Look at the Written Product Warranty" was published
in Quality Progress Magazine and submitted in testimony before
Congress regarding the passage of the Consumer Product Warranty Bill.
Another legal study "Antitrust Law and Standardization - What
Role the Trade Association?" was presented to the FTC Task Force
on Industrial Self-Regulation. Jon has been admitted to the bars of
the District of Columbia, Maryland, New York and Texas. In addition
he is admitted to practice before: the United States Supreme Court,
the United States Court of Appeals for the Second, Fourth, & Fifth
Circuits, the United States Tax Court, and the United States District
Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York as well
as the Southern and Western District of Texas. Jon's broad legal background
has provided him with legal experience that covers all three sectors:
corporate, government, and private practice.
